    STIHL ElastoStart™
The ElastoStart™ starter handle is an exclusive feature of STIHL. It is a starting grip with a built-in shock absorber that helps reduce the effort when pulling on the starter cord. The ElastoStart™ starter grip noticeably reduces the sudden peak forces (compression) normally felt during cranking. The forces which occur at the grip after the first compression stroke are smoothed out.

    STIHL M-Tronic™
This product features M-Tronic™ (M) - a new generation of Intelligent Engine Management that eliminates the low and high speed carburetor adjustment screws, compensates for dirty air filter and changes in elevation and fuel quality for optimum engine power at all times.

    IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor
The IntelliCarb™ Compensating Carburetor is designed to automatically adjust the air/fuel ratio when the air filter becomes restricted or partially clogged and maintains the engine’s correct RPM. IntelliCarb™ uses air from the clean side of the air filter to control the diaphragm and flow of fuel. As the air filter becomes dirty and less air is available for the carburetor, the IntelliCarb™ system adjusts the fuel flow to compensate for the decrease in air flow. This is in contrast to typical carburetors that utilize this air from the “dirty” side of the air box.
  • Zoom
    Side-Access Chain Tensioner
The side-access chain tensioner makes it much more convenient for the user to adjust the saw chain with a bar wrench as opposed to the typical location of the guide bar adjustment screw.
  • Zoom
    Wrap Handle (R)
Saw can be used in multiple positions for felling or limbing with hands in the proper positions.

    STIHL Quickstop®
STIHL chainsaws are equipped with a chain stopping system designed to reduce the risk of injury in certain kickback situations. It is called a STIHL Quickstop® chain brake. The STIHL Quickstop® chain brake is designed to stop the rotation of the chain if activated by the operator’s hand or by inertia if the saw kicks back with sufficient force. In some working positions, the STIHL Quickstop® chain brake can be activated by inertia, stopping the chain within fractions of a second.

    Ematic™ Lubrication System
The Ematic™ guide bar, when used with STIHL OILOMATIC® saw chain, will provide proper lubrication and less oil consumption than conventional methods. The system works because two ramps, strategically placed in the guide bar rail, help contain the flow of oil and direct all lubrication to the sliding faces of the bar and chain links as well as the rivets and driver holes, which in turn can reduce bar oil consumption up to 50%.
  • Zoom
    Master Control Lever™
The Master Control Lever™ is an easy to use single lever, operating the choke, starting throttle lock and on-off switch. The operator must pull the throttle trigger before moving the Master Control Lever™ to the choke position.
  • Zoom
    Decompression Valve
The decompression valve, also referred to as 'deco' or 'deco valve', vents compression in the cylinder for easier starting. The decompression valve temporarily reduces the compression in the combustion chamber during cranking and helps reduce the effort needed to pull the starter rope. It is opened manually and closes automatically as soon as the engine fires.

    Winter/Summer Shutter
The Winter/Summer Shutter allows the carburetor to operate at optimum temperature year-round and helps to prevent carburetor icing when working below 50°F (10°C).

Rated 5 out of 5 by Perfect saw! Pretty much the ideal saw from its light weight, well laid out power head and uber ergonomic rap around handle and silky smooth anti vibration functioning to it's hard hitting no holds barred wood ripping power band that slices through rounds like a hot knife through butter. It amazes me every time! To say that I like this saw would be an understatement. Would I recomend it? Hmm... Let's see... Only if you want the best mid sized saw money can buy. Heh. Yeah I'd recommend it. August 4, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Last saw you'll ever buy! I've had this saw for about 5 months and I have to say I have no complaints. I use this saw for about 3-5 hours every day and it's the perfect saw. One of the main reasons I bought this saw was not only for the power, but for the curved handle, it offers so many different ways of cutting and if you're in a tough spot it's super convenient. This saw can take on any tree you throw at it. Yes, it's pricey but all STIHL is because of the quality behind the name. Like any big saw it is fuel thirsty, so get a 5 gallon gas can instead of a 2.5 May 15, 2016
Rated 5 out of 5 by Ms 362 still running fantastic I have owned this saw for 4 years now. I use in the winter and in the summer. Always starts in 5 pulls. It has a easy to adjust air block that let's you go from outside air to air off the warm engine. I have "never" had to adjust the carb. Cold being (16f) to warm being (85f). Just flip the air block. I have never even changed the spark plug. Great power to weight ratio! I can cut for hours and still feel like doing more when I'm done. I do know that running 87 octane is a no no. Need to run only premium fuel. (92 octane). Which I run in all my stihl tools. Love the saw! Spend the extra money and buy the ms 362r. It comes with a full rap handle and duel spikes for just a very small amount more vs just the normal ms 362. To try to convert a saw to the (R) model costs quite a bit more. Either way you'll love the saw!y March 22, 2016

Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw for the right tasks! When you're looking at all the saws Stihl offers, be very sure you're getting the right one for you. Go talk to your dealer and see what they recommend. I personally use the 362 for a variety of projects. I'm a resource conservation and fire sciences student at the University of Montana which means the saw it seeing a ton of varied use. Ranging from thinning projects, active fire use, bucking blocks for our timbersports team and even using the saw for competitions occasionally. This is a great mid size saw, I regularly use larger Stihl saws on thinning projects and at work but I come back to this saw regularly and always bring it with me! November 1, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by Great saw This is my favorite saw. I have several saws for carving and this saw is great. I use it all day long, every day. Has no cons June 8, 2015
Rated 5 out of 5 by 6 Stihl saws Needed a 60cc saw to supplement my 25y.o. 028 Super. My 362 R C-M is FANTASTIC ! Easy starting, Great power & balance, I heat with wood & cut approx. 30 cords annually. I also use my saws for disaster cleanup. If every product that we purchased was as rugged, well made & long lasting as these Stihl saws, we would all be wealthier! October 30, 2014
Rated 1 out of 5 by Stihl saws, not what they used to be We heat with wood so I run a saw alot thru out the year. My first saw was a Stihl 034 AV. You could'nt beat that saw. It finally died after about 20 years of cutting. I replaced it with a Stihl MS 362, biggest piece of over priced junk I ever owned. The dealer had trouble starting it before I left the store with it, which should of been a clue. This saw will flood every time you try to start it without fail. Then you have to take out the spark plug and POUR out the fuel in the cylinder, dry it all off and then it will usually start. I've owned it for 16 months and already had to replace the fuel cap and starting cord. I have to say I own a Stihl demo saw, a Stihl pole saw and a Stihl weed eater that are all excellent, I guess not new enough to have junk components. No more for me. February 8, 2014
